Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar said violations such as drunken driving, minor driving, wrong routes and dangerous driving will be met with strict action, stressing that the city will follow a firm zero tolerance approach.

The warning came during a detailed review of the Traffic Department at the TGICCC Auditorium in Banjara Hills, where he assessed on-ground challenges and gathered suggestions from personnel.

He told the staff that traffic officers remain the face of Hyderabad Police and credited them for improving the department’s performance every day. He also reminded them that corruption on the roads will not be entertained in any form, although good work will be recognised.

The Commissioner announced monthly convergence meetings with officials from various departments beginning November 27 to address persistent traffic issues. He instructed the creation of special teams to conduct a scientific study on U-turns and asked that the Real Time Traffic Monitoring System be strengthened. He also directed officials to craft a technology-driven plan for managing congestion and to personally visit accident sites when crashes occur.

A new Traffic Command Control Centre Protocol is expected soon, with senior officers told to take proactive steps to ease Hyderabad’s growing congestion. The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, DCPs R. Venkateswarlu and S. Srinivas, along with ACPs, Inspectors and nearly 450 personnel from the Hyderabad Traffic Department.
