Bollywood’s period action drama film ‘120 Bahadur’ has got a grand release worldwide today. Let’s see in this review how much this movie impressed the audience.
Story:
The makers have made this movie based on the India-China war of 1962. And in this story, we are shown how Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (Farhan Akhtar) with his 120 soldiers protected the India-China border from the Chinese army.
Plus Points:
These films give us the action and emotion required for period films. Since this movie is set in the background of war, all the necessary aspects have been well presented.
Especially in the second half, the action episodes in this movie are the highlight. The way they were presented and the performances of the actors at that time were good. In the direction of the climax, the emotional content of this movie is good. The makers have succeeded in making the plot of the movie relatable to everyone.
Minus Points:
The major draw back of this film is the first half of the film. A big minus is that the makers are taking too much time to establish the story. Another minus is the lack of scenes that offer a big treat in the first half.
The fact that the audience could not remember many of the actors in this movie also became a minus for the movie. As only a few people are familiar, others are not focused on.
And although it seems that the action sequences in the second half have been done justice to, one gets the feeling that the movie has failed to impress the common audience.
Technical Department:
It must be said that the story chosen by director Rajneesh Ghai for this movie is powerful. But, such stories should have been treated more powerfully. Sumit Arora’s dialogues are mostly worked out. Even the music didn’t seem to matter. Editing should have been better. Production values are good.
Verdict:
Overall, ‘120 Bahadur’ is a somewhat okay period action drama. The real events and the characters in it will please the audience. Farhan Akhtar impresses with his performance. But there are many boring episodes in the story.. especially the lack of any interesting elements in the first half is not pleasing. For those who love war action movies, this movie will only connect to a certain extent.
