Honda recently showcased the 0 Series sedan concept at the Japan Mobility Show. It not only previews a flagship EV but also the brand’s future design philosophy. In fact, reports suggest that the design of the next-generation City will be based on this radical concept. Early design mock-ups of the 6th-generation City are said to carry design elements of the 0 Series sedan. The car is said to have a sleek and sporty front end and a front quarter glass inspired by the Lamborghini Countach. The new-gen City is expected to be based on Honda’s PF2 modular platform, offering high rigidity and weight savings of around 90 kg. The new City is expected to get petrol and hybrid powertrain options, just like the existing model. Currently, the car is offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid unit. In India, the Honda City has been one of the most popular midsize sedans but has been losing market share to its rivals, which include the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and the VW Virtus.
