My trusted pre-drive checklist for smooth, stress-free long journeys

My trusted pre-drive checklist for smooth, stress-free long journeys BHPian vamsi.vadrevu recently shared this with other enthusiasts:What I do:1. Squeaky clean the entire glass area. I like my windshield to be completely free of any foreign stuff. It should be so clear that we feel there’s no windshield at all! It puts my mind in a calm mood for long long-distance drive! 2. Open the hood and check the Engine Oil levels. 3. Brake fluid levels. 4. Coolant levels in reservoir. 5. Top up the windshield washer fluid (I always carry a 5-liter can of distilled water in the trunk!), and I use a lot of fluid when using wipers because they lubricate the surface and prevent the rubber from wearing out faster. I use Ecstar sachets. 6. Start the engine, get the car out of the parking area, and let it warm up. 7. While it’s warming up, check all 4 tire pressures and adjust them to within 0.5 psi of the recommended spec. I use my own inflator and a very accurate digital pressure gauge that can measure to 0.1 psi resolution. 8. Pray to the idols in the car for protection! 9. Drive off.If I’m in a hurry and the trip is going to be within the city, the ritual is short and goes like this;1. Get the vehicle out of the parking space and let it warm up. 2. While it is warming up, I dust off the entire glass area with a Jopasu duster (if it’s too dirty, I’ll use windshield cleaner and microfiber cloths) 3. Check cold tire pressures and ensure they’re within 0.5 psi of the recommended values. 4. Pray to the idols in the car for protection! 5. Drive off!
