Hyderabad: Telangana may witness another spell of rainfall later this month as a fresh weather system develops over the Bay of Bengal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the disturbance is expected to intensify into a deep depression or even a cyclone over the next few days.“The system is likely to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, bringing moderate rain to several districts of East Telangana between Nov 27 and 28,” said A Sravani, scientist at the IMD.She added that the system is unlikely to match the intensity of cyclone Montha. While light to moderate showers are expected in northern and eastern districts of Telangana, including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, the overall impact on the state will be “limited and still under assessment.” With this incoming system, the ongoing cold-wave conditions across Telangana are also set to ease. Minimum temperatures dropped to 7.4ºC in Sangareddy, 8ºC in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, 8.5ºC in Vikarabad, and 9.2ºC in Siddipet on Wednesday. However, temperatures are forecast to rise to between 14ºC and 17ºC across most districts over the next three days.YV Rama Rao, senior meteorologist at the Telangana Development Planning Society, said the cold wave would subside from Nov 22 as warm, moist winds from the Bay of Bengal begin influencing the state. “By the weekend, minimum temperatures will stabilise between 15ºC and 17ºC,” he said.In Hyderabad, Serilingampally recorded the lowest temperature at 9.4ºC, followed by 10.5ºC in Ramachandrapuram and 11.2ºC in Alwal. Forecasts show the city’s minimums rising to between 14ºC and 17ºC over the next three days, with chances of light rain depending on the cyclone’s eventual track.Authorities have been advised to stay alert and monitor updates as the system strengthens.
