Priyadarshi has been working hard to maintain the status of a solo lead. After a blockbuster like Court, he faced two disasters like Sarangapani Jathakam and Mithra Mandali. He wants to deliver a hit with Premante and Anandi is playing leading lady role. Let’s discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Madhie (Priyadarshi) and Ramya (Anandi) like each other at a marriage event. Their parents arrange their marriage and Madhie talks about his debts. After three months, Ramya starts to doubt about Madhie having an affair. Madhie confesses that he is a thief and Ramya tries to reform him. But she joins him looking at his talent.
On the other hand, local constable Asha Mary (Suma Kanakala) gets the case of finding Madhie and Ramya, who are brilliant. Will she able to catch them? What is the need for Ramya to join Madhie and why did Madhie became a thief in the first place? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Priyadarshi is natural in his approach when he doesn’t try too hard to fit into a character. Here, he seems to have tried to get into a character that doesn’t really suit his natural body language. While he is a good actor, he does need to concentrate on this aspect of bringing naturality to any character, he plays. Anandi is good and her performance is impressive as she keeps the screen lively. Suma Kanakala did well within the limitations of her character but writing needed to be sharp.
Navneeth Sriram tries to infuse ideas of how love can be blinding for a person and brings acceptance of the other person about everything they do. Also, it tries to touch on a point about two people in love being able to stay true and be honest in their own way to how they feel. There is a lot of twisted logic to these ideas and the director needed to concentrate on bringing it out in his scenes even better.
The narrative needed to flesh out how both of them are in love madly with each other and not just trying to find a good excuse to be together. Suma Kanakala’s scenes in this aspect come into the narrative as speed breakers, especially, in the first hour. They seem repetitive as the effect would have been similar with a little bit more reduced time on her portions and more on the leads about their building trust and love for each other over the course of burglary activities.
The performances, decent production values, hummable music and few genuine moments in climax does work to an extent but the core of the film needed to be shown rather than said. The framing, blocking details also needed to be refined with less jarring editing. Movie needed much more finesse in execution. Writer-director Navneeth Sriram needed even better comical tinge in finding the perfect tone and balance rather than sticking to low hanging fruits. Overall, the core point had potential but the writing, execution did not really justify them.
Bottomline:
Concept is interesting but scripts and execution lacks fun quotient
Rating: 2.25/5
