A strategic infrastructure push is underway in Cyberabad as the Traffic Police and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) have identified a series of urgent interventions to ease congestion, improve pedestrian safety and address accident-prone zones, particularly along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) corridor.
At a high-level coordination meeting at the Cyberabad commissionerate, officials prioritised the construction of underpasses, flyovers, service roads and foot-over-bridges at critical junctions, alongside improved footpaths and skywalks. Black spots are set to be rectified, CCTV surveillance strengthened and drainage issues addressed to ensure smoother traffic flow across major routes.
Upgrades to traffic signals, road widening, removal of unnecessary dividers and creation of left-turn lanes at key junctions, installation of railings and bus bays, as well as dedicated protections for two-wheeler users and pedestrians, were discussed as immediate requirements. Officials also stressed the need for regular maintenance of drainage systems and inspections of bottlenecks on the ORR, followed by targeted traffic management plans.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Cyberabad Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Gajarao Bhupal, HMDA Joint Metropolitan Commissioner T. Venkanna and HGCL Chief General Manager Ch. Param Jyothi. Senior officers from the Cyberabad traffic police, HMDA and HGCL were also present.
Following the priority-setting discussions, officials called for streamlined coordination across departments and agreed to hold follow-up meetings to monitor progress. Enhanced enforcement will be backed by new CCTV cameras at vulnerable junctions and improved traffic discipline through clearer lane markings and signal placement.
The officials noted that infrastructure readiness and timely execution will be critical as traffic volume continues to grow in Cyberabad. Detailed execution plans are expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
