Chelsea lead against Burnley! It was a dodgy start from Enzo Maresca’s men, but they’ve found their feet now and have taken the game to their opposition.
It was a great goal overall. Trevoh Chalobah picked out a superb long ball to Marc Cucurella, who was making his usual disruptive channel run. The Spaniard was able to bring the ball down in the Burnley box and draw in several defenders, then release it to the now freed up Jamie Gittens.

The winger looked up and played superb bending right footed cross from the edge of the box, in-swinging a ball that picked out Pedro Neto’s clever run from deep to the far post.
The Portuguese made no mistake with a diving header, his fourth goal of an increasingly impressive Premier League season.

Despite this goal, it was hardly a vintage showing in the first period from the Blues. The reason they went long to score this was because they had so little control in the middle. Hopefully the game opens up a bit now, and Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos can start controlling possession a little more.

If we resort to bringing on Moises Caicedo…. we’ve failed. Let’s score a second and get it done.
In other Burnley news…
Before kick off, Enzo Maresca discussed the Cole Palmer situation and gave a relatively positive report on the attacker’s progress following his freak foot injury.
Even with Palmer out, Chelsea have made a number of interesting and unexpected changes to their team, and Maresca defended two of them in another pre-match chat.
