Mahindra has taken an interesting approach with the XEV lineup. With two different body styles, there are cars for two different uses in the same family, making it a beneficial addition to Mahindra’s growing EV lineup. While the XEV 9e has already made its mark with its sense of style, the 9s comes across as a more sensible, more spacious option. But which one is more suitable for you? Let us understand these two separately.

XEV 9e vs XEV 9s: Design and body style

The XEV 9e came with a coupe-SUV styled profile with a sloping roofline and a bold and youthful design. It was suitable for buyers who were conscious of their road appearance and design. Whereas the Was not.

The 9s will also have more headroom, better ingress/egress and better space utilization due to the flat roof. This also shows that the 9s also has three-row seats.
XEV 9e vs XEV 9s: Battery, range and platform

Both EVs feature Mahindra’s scalable INGLO platform, similar charging architecture and battery technology.
| Battery | XEV 9E | XEV 9S |
| 59 kWh | ✔ | ✔ |
| 70 kWh | ✖ | ✔ |
| 79 kWh | ✔ | ✔ |
A larger 70kWh battery in the 9S makes a big difference between the two, making 241bhp and 380 Nm of torque and has a claimed range of 600km. Although it’s only available in one trim, it will make the 9S lineup more flexible for more users.

XEV 9e vs XEV 9s: Cabin, space and comfort

With the XEV 9’s 5-seater layout, it is an ideal choice for nuclear families and heavy city use. But the XEV 9s’ 7-seat layout, with a usable third row, makes it a more practical option for those who either need more seats or want to travel longer distances with a little more comfort. Additionally, little things like ventilated sliding second row seats and tray table further add to the long-haul comfort.

That said, both have the same premium cabin, multi-screen dashboard and high-tech cockpit, but the 9s offers a little more space, and that matters when real life gets in the way of lifestyle.
XEV 9e vs XEV 9s: price comparison
| model | starting price | price of expensive models |
| XEV 9s | Rs.19.95 lakhs | Rs. 29.45 lakhs |
| XEV 9e | Rs. 21.90 lakhs | Rs. 30.50–31.25 lakhs |
This is the thing that surprises the most. The roomier and more practical 9s not only starts at a cheaper price, but its fully-loaded trims also cost less than the 9e. These starting prices may be playing out, but if you look at value for money at this point, the 9s makes a strong case for itself.
