NIT-W 23rd convocation: Graduates urged to embrace curiosity and avoid comparisons

Vice-President and Managing Director of Micron India Anand Ramamoorthy urged NIT-Warangal graduates to embrace curiosity and avoid comparison, besides building a professional network to achieve success in career.

Mr. Ramamoorthy, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, said that Artificial Intelligence must be utilised as a launchpad for innovation. Guest of Honour Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, and Chairman DRDO Samir V. Kamat urged students to consider DRDO as one of their options for placement to contribute to nation-building.

Presenting details of the institution’s achievements, Director of NIT-W Bidyadhar Subudhi said they are witnessing record placements in 2025-26. He added that the institute had secured 118 funded projects worth ₹45.65 crore, 51 new patents, and increased startup activity through the Centre for Innovation and Incubation.

With NIT-W conferring honorary degrees for the first time, the recipients are: Samir V. Kamat, (Doctor of Science) for outstanding contributions to indigenous defence technologies and N. Venu, (and Doctor of Philosophy), Managing Director & CEO (India & South Asia), Hitachi Energy, for his significant contributions to India’s sustainable energy transformation.

A total of 1,913 students were conferred degrees, including 953 B.Tech, 556 M.Tech, 149 M.Sc, 38 MBA, 56 MCA, 142 Ph.D., and 19 exit degrees (B.Sc., B.Sc. Honours, PG Diploma). Director’s Gold Medal Winners: B.Tech Overall Topper: Mr. Palacharla Sri Satya Naveen – Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech Overall Topper: Ms. Konda Shoushya – Power Systems Engineering and MBA/MCA/M.Sc Overall Topper: Mr. Rohan Gupta – M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry).
