Mahindra XEV 9S Review : 11 Pros & 11 Cons Mahindra XEV 9S ReviewMahindra XEV 9S Pros A well-priced 7-seater Electric SUV that focuses on comfort and practicality Bold front-end styling makes it stand out from the crowd. Has good street presence. The more conventional styling will appeal to a wider crowd than the futuristic XEV 9e Spacious interiors with comfy seats and sorted ergonomics. 6-footer passengers won’t complain Powerful motor sends 282 BHP to the rear wheels (0-100 km/h in 7 seconds)! Sorted suspension offers good road manners & high-speed stability 79 kWh battery pack should deliver 450 – 500 km real-world range. This is enough even for road-tripping with the family Lifetime warranty on the battery is a big assurance for EV owners (Note: Cap of 10 years / 2,00,000 km for 2nd owner) 500-litre boot and the 150-litre frunk mean enough cargo capacity for holidays / airport runs A very long list of features with some truly unique ones like 3 high-quality screens, augmented reality integrated head-up display, rear ventilated seats, 16-speaker Harman-Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, an in-car camera, UV filtration glass, auto-park with remote car control, powered boss mode, 540-degree surround view and lots more Safety tech includes Level 2 ADAS (5 Radars + 1 camera), 7 airbags, fatigue alert system, all-wheel disc brakes, ESP, front parking sensors, 360-degree recording, hill hold, hill descent control etc. Zero emissions, cheap running costs & green image will appeal to a lot of peopleMahindra XEV 9S Cons Negligible boot space with the 3rd-row seat up. Either 5 onboard, or 7 with a roof-top carrier Many BHPians find the design to be a bit of mish-mash, with the futuristic front end mated to traditional XUV700 side & rear profiles Some cabin plastics don’t feel premium in an otherwise loaded SUV Low-speed ride is busy. While it’s better than the XEV 9e, we were hoping for it to be more absorbent. The Harrier EV rides much plusher Only available in a rear-wheel-drive configuration. No all-wheel-drive like the Tata Harrier.ev. Mahindra should offer it eventually, as AWD & 4×4 are in their DNA Build quality and fit & finish – while being satisfactory – still have room for improvement Cramped 3rd-row seat is best suited to children only Missing features such as a full-size spare tyre (you get a skinny 135 mm space saver which will cap your cruising speed to 80 km/h), V2V & V2L functions, cooled glovebox, electric tailgate and no physical buttons for the HVAC controls Mahindra’s after-sales service is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble The usual EV challenges & restrictions Read Team-BHP’s detailedMahindra XEV 9S review here.
