VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday reaffirmed that Andhra Pradesh’s share of Krishna river water would not be compromised, stressing that water security is as crucial as the accelerated development of Amaravati. In a review meeting at the Secretariat, he instructed officials to present a strong case before the tribunal and protect AP’s allocation post-bifurcation.
The Chief Minister recalled that the tribunal had allotted 512 TMC of Krishna water to Andhra Pradesh and 299 TMC to Telangana, and insisted that these shares must remain unchanged. He asked officials to ensure prudent use of the 1,095 TMC currently available in state reservoirs and to intensify measures to improve groundwater levels in Rayalaseema, which have risen from 9 metres to 7.34 metres.
Naidu also emphasised that justice must be ensured for farmers who had given land for Amaravati and said their long-standing issues should be resolved without delay. He directed departments to clear technical or procedural hurdles and asked the Municipal Administration Minister and senior officials to directly engage with farmers. Unresolved matters, he said, must be escalated to the Cabinet for final decisions.
Reviewing ongoing works with CRDA and Municipal Administration officials, the Chief Minister said that there should be no compromise on the pace or quality of construction. He reiterated that Amaravati would be developed into a world-class city, reflecting the government’s commitment to high-standard execution.
