BYD India has announced that it will increase the price of its flagship model, the BYD Sealion 7. These increased prices will be applicable from January 1, 2026, however, customers booking this electric SUV on or before December 31 will be able to avail the existing ex-showroom prices. Currently, the premium variant of BYD Celian 7 is priced at Rs.48.90 lakh and the most expensive performance variant is priced at Rs.54.90 lakh (both ex-showroom).

The company hasn’t given any reason for the price hike, however, we think it’s in line with the auto industry trend of increasing prices at the beginning of a new year. Since its launch in February 2026, the company has sold over 2000 units of this electric SUV, which is a huge number for a premium EV in this price range.

Rajiv Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said, “With price changes planned from early 2026, we want to ensure that customers who have been waiting to purchase the BYD Celianc 7 can benefit from the existing pricing till December 31, 2025. As we continue to expand our dealership network and enhance customer touchpoints, the BYD Celianc 7 Advance, “Will continue to be a key pillar of BYD India’s commitment to offer sustainable and high-performance electric mobility solutions.”

As mentioned earlier, BYD Sealion 7 is available in two variants, but both are equipped with a 82.56 kWh battery pack. The only difference is in features and drivetrain. The Premium variant is a rear-wheel drive (RWD) model, while the Performance trims are all-wheel drive (AWD) and dual motors.

Maximum power of the single-motor variant is 308 bhp, while the dual-motor version produces a combined 523 bhp. Talking about acceleration, the single-motor Premium variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the dual-motor Performance variant can do it in 4.5 seconds. The battery pack gives a range of 587 km in the single-motor variant and 542 km in the Performance AWD version.

The company is also planning to expand its outlet network to provide better service to the customers. Currently, BYD India has a network of 47 showrooms across 40 cities.
