Coming from a Tigor diesel, how I feel about my 2025 Tata Altroz AMT

Coming from a Tigor diesel, how I feel about my 2025 Tata Altroz AMT BHPian ArTigor recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Finally, the 2025 Tata Altroz Creative S AMT petrol comes home. Here are the pics of taking delivery Here are some pics of bidding farewell to my Tigor Diesel XT, after almost 8 years and 1.08 lakh km. It was an emotional farewell, as it was my first car. Initial observations – coming from a Tigor Diesel Manual to Altroz Petrol AMTSilent cabin, I don’t know why all reviews say that the petrol is noisy? I have driven Baleno as well, and the NVH cabin inside feels on par with the Baleno. Smooth Engine, I test drove the Tigor AMT, which has the same engine and gearbox, but the difference between the smoothness of the engine and vibrations is as different as chalk and cheese! In Altroz, there are no vibrations in the cabin, and the engine is very smooth. I found this surprising as I have driven many petrol Tigors and Tiagos. Tata has surely done some active refinements on the engine as well as the mounts.AMTNow I was still not very confident while booking the AMT, but the DCT disappointed me. If it is not a slick and quick shifter, what’s the point of it being a DCT? Also, after reading a few failure and warranty replacement feedback of the DCT, I chose to stay away from it. Coming back to AMT, it is well calibrated. If throttle inputs are gentle, then the AMT upshifts at 2000 RPM mark, if the throttle inputs are aggressive, the AMT holds upto 4500 RPM, although tried it only once, as I am keeping it gentle for the first 2000 km. AMT shifts are very predictable and on par with the Baleno AMT. Jerkiness in traffic in 1st gear is not present and it moves smoothly from a standstill. First to second gear is also smooth, but the smoothest shifts are above 2nd gear. Some places where I felt the AMT is a challenge are while taking a turn when you are in 2nd gear and expect the AMT to hold onto second gear while coming out of the curve in order to be able to accelerate, but it upshifts to 3rd gear and acceleration gets affected. Overall happy with the AMT experience, coming from a diesel manual, this feels premium and comforting.Fuel EfficiencyDrove the car for 50 kms in Navi Mumbai which was a mix of 20% traffic and 80% free-flow Palm Beach Road. The car MID shows 12 KMPL. I hope this will increase over time.Interior spaceThe car is wide, spacious and bright on the inside, gives an airy feeling. The quality of every material is premium and a segment above. Fit and Alignment on the interior is at 90% though. A little effort to be put by Tata QC and this can surely be 100%.InfotainmentAbsolutely lag free quick Android Auto, superb user interface. Whenever I enter the car, Android Auto seamlessly connects. I hate it when the blind spot camera during turns replaces the Maps, it is in fact a bad design. Somehow the speaker setup in my Tigor felt better, though.Delivery Experience from TataJan 2018 Tigor Delivery and Oct 2025 Altroz Delivery experiences are poles apart, although they are from the same dealer. It was a premium delivery experience this time. But! Tata has to improve on a few fronts. I had to highlight the Soiled Driver door armrest and get it cleaned before delivery. PDI is a weak point for Tata, and the Factory QC process is a joke. For anyone buying a Tata, I would recommend always opting for a third-party PDI. Will come up with a detailed ownership initial review after a few weeks. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
