He recalled the contribution of Nehru in laying the strong foundation of independent India in education, irrigation and other crucial sectors. Name any major irrigation project including Bhakra Nangal, Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam and SRSP, all these projects initiated by the first Prime Minister of India proved a boon for the agriculture development in the country, he remarked.
He said Telangana State had become a reality during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister and the university is aptly named after the visionary leader.
He struck a chord with the audience at the public meeting held in the industrial hub of Telangana, saying Palvancha is the place where the ‘Jai Telangana’ movement for statehood to Telangana began in 1969.
He slammed the rulers of the previous BRS dispensation accusing them of looting public money in the name of irrigation projects. “Our government is steadfast in its commitment to complete the Sitarama and other irrigation projects in the erstwhile Khammam district to expand the irrigation facilities,” he added.
He noted that the Young India Integrated Residential Schools are being set up across the State to build a bright future for the younger generation in line with Nehru’s legacy.
Listing out the key welfare schemes of the Congress government, he said: “It is imperative to elect good leaders as sarpanches to ensure the comprehensive development of villages and usher in welfare of all at the grassroots level.”
