The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Tuesday launched a six-week Statewide cyber awareness campaign, Fraud Ka Full Stop, aimed at preventing cyber fraud and equipping citizens with practical digital safety skills.
The programme was inaugurated at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills in the presence of senior police leadership, officials from partner departments, students, bank representatives and citizens.
Speaking at the launch, TGCSB Director Shikha Goel said that the Bureau has handled 2.44 lakh National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) complaints, registered 58,244 FIRs and facilitated the refund of more than ₹350 crore to victims.
She noted that while cybercrime nationally increased by 29%, Telangana recorded an 8% decline, and financial losses dropped by 30% compared with the national figure of 6%. She attributed the improvement to reforms such as strengthening the 1930 helpline, enhancing the ‘put on hold’ mechanism, and developing a model refund system with the support of the High Court.
Ms. Goel described the campaign as a people-centric movement combining on-ground outreach with extensive digital engagement. Each week of the campaign focuses on a specific theme, including reporting to 1930, ‘digital arrest’ fraud, investment scams, hacking threats, identity theft, and online safety for women and children. The campaign will include workshops and seminars, flash mobs, cyber safety walks, rallies, street plays, pledge drives, live online interactions and daily safety tips among others.

She urged citizens to adopt cyber safety as a daily habit and participate actively in awareness drives.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shivadhar Reddy, who presided over the event as chief guest, said cybercrime must be treated as a “core policing priority” across all units. He referred to the Chief Minister’s instructions on strengthening cybercrime control and directed officers at district and police station levels to conduct intensive awareness programmes throughout the campaign. He stressed the need to educate citizens on patterns such as ‘digital arrest’, investment fraud, loan app harassment, impersonation and social media extortion.
The launch also introduced SPARC Cyber Clubs (Student Program for Awareness and Responsible Cyberspace) in schools and colleges to encourage students to act as cyber ambassadors, as well as SBI Cyber Defenders aimed at improving preventive vigilance among bank staff and vulnerable customers.
A series of campaign materials, including posters, songs, jingles and awareness films, were released at the event. The TGCSB aims to reach at least 5 lakh citizens directly through physical events, with many more expected to be engaged through digital and traditional media.
Senior officers from the State, including the tri-commissionerate of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda attended the programme.
The TGCSB urged people to remain vigilant, avoid suspicious links and financial offers, and report cyber fraud immediately to 1930 or via www.cybercrime.gov.in. The Telangana Police reiterated their commitment to building a cyber-resilient State where citizens are empowered to safeguard themselves in the digital space.
