Telugu cinema is currently witnessing a wave of Ramayana-inspired narratives. From top directors like Rajamouli to emerging filmmakers, many are reinterpreting the epic in fresh ways. “Mowgli 2025” joins this list, and its newly released trailer clearly reflects its mythological influence.
In his second acting outing, Roshan Kanakala plays Mowgli, a young man raised in the wilderness. Directed by Sandeep Raj of ‘Color Photo’ fame and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory, the film’s trailer outlines a plot strongly rooted in Ramayana parallels.
Ramayana reimagined
Mowgli’s girlfriend, a deaf-mute dancer played by Sakshi Mhadolkar, faces a grave threat from a psychotic police officer portrayed by Bandi Saroj Kumar. In this reimagination, Mowgli represents Rama, the girl symbolizes Sita, and the antagonist mirrors Ravana. The story unfolds entirely in a forest backdrop.
Roshan Kanakala appears to have undergone a notable transformation, while Sakshi Mhadolkar takes on a demanding role with conviction. Kaala Bhairava provides background score.
With its intriguing setup and atmospheric presentation, the “Mowgli 2025” trailer successfully raises anticipation ahead of its release on December 12th.
