BHPian karan561 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Exterior Looks:The E450 has an AMG line trim whereas the BMW M340i is a M performance BMW. So in BMW terms, the AMG Line is an equivalent to the M Sport trim and M Performance trim competes with the likes of 43 and the 53 AMGs. But we need to understand that both are using six-cylinder engines. Both are 3 L turbocharged petrols. Both are having approximately 380 horsepower. Both are all-wheel drives. Any enthusiast shopping for a luxury high performance sedan these 2 will (or should) cross their mind for sure. Ideally c43 should be competing here but that car has not been accepted very well globally (being a 4cyl hybrid) hence the E450 is taking charge here. Do note the E450 is a LWB ( V chassis code & not W ) Coming to the M340i, the model here is the pre-facelift. LCI 1 & LCI 2 look good too; Do note despite being an AMG Line trim the only place where I could spot AMG logo was on the rims, where as the M340i has plenty of of M badges sprinkled. Which rims do you prefer ? Also the Mercedes has a cross drilled setup where as in the M340i it doesn’t get cross drilled brake rotors.InteriorThe interior experience is where the difference starts getting obvious and the E450 really leaps ahead with this interior, the space as well as the overall luxurious feel. This screen layout is the third generation of the MBUX platform, the software which Mercedes gives in their cars and it is ‘now’ very good. The music system is also fantastic (better than the 16 speaker Harmon Kardon of the BMW’s). Rear seat space is unparalleled compared to the BMWs; ^ More spacious than the previous gen F30 though. My car uses the idrive 7 (the best IMO) but LCi1&2 get the newer 8 screen. Continue readingkaran561’s postfor more insights and information.
