Why the CKD KLX 230 is worth the extra money: A rider’s honest take

Why the CKD KLX 230 is worth the extra money: A rider’s honest take BHPian ranjitnair77 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:The local KLX feels clearly built to a cost. In isolation, it will pass muster, but when you look at them together, it doesn’t help. Finish levels on the CKD feel significantly better.I liked the grey paint scheme, but the decals on it are horrendous. I wonder why they did not keep the same clean decals that they have on the green.I didn’t mind the Endurance suspension. Slightly firmer for sure, but not a big deal in the conditions that I tested the bike: concrete roads, broken roads, a some dirt shoulders. I suspect a proper test of the two machines on trails would be needed to know offroad performance. I suspect that the Showa will be better. The local KLX felt buzzier and coarser. Perhaps because the engine hasn’t settled down yet. The CKD had more miles on it and was noticeably better.I had a couple of slow-speed stalls while taking U-turns on the local. Again, this could be a new bike issue.I’m 5 7″ with a 30″ inseam. Zero issues with the height on both bikes. It’s a featherweight. No one should have any concerns on this front. You can have fun, but you need to work the gears and the throttle.Ultimately, this is a pass for me. I was looking at a minimal dual sport that I can also commute with. This one lacks the power and excitement, and there are aspects of the fit and finish that I cannot overlook. The 390 Enduro, which I also test drove, will give us a wider usage band. It’s clearly the better bike for a single bike garage .But the low-end lack of refinement of that engine is hard to digest. If I had to buy the KLX, I’d buy the CKD. In my opinion, it’s better to spend the cash rather than live with regret during ownership. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
