The CNG variant of the upcoming Tata Punch facelift has been spotted testing on Indian roads ahead of its expected launch next year. The images, which have been seen from the front during testing with a fully covered cover, give a glimpse of the updated front end as well as the cabin and reveal some differences from previous petrol car testing models.

Like the pictures of the previous testing model, the Punch facelift will also get a front design similar to its electric variant. We expect the Punch facelift to have a black panel between the upper light clusters – like the petrol-diesel Nexon, as well as a completely redesigned front bumper with a larger central air vent and thinner light clusters in the inverted triangular side vents. However, the most striking feature is the lighting arrangement – the testing model had pilot lights above instead of LED daytime running lamps, while the headlights were still LED. The fog lamp covers are covered with camouflage, so it is difficult to tell whether the testing model had fog lamps or not.

Talking about the cabin, it is similar to the existing Punch, except for the newly designed steering wheel with illuminated logo. Interestingly, unlike the previous test model, the Punch CNG model gets the old-style LED instrument panel with a dot-matrix style speedometer display at the center – similar to the unit found in the current petrol Punch. Sunroof is also present in it.

Looking at these features, it seems that this is an upper mid-spec variant and not the most expensive variant. However, the lack of LED DRLs and presence of LED headlights look a bit strange. Probably the reason for this is that it is just a test model.

As before, the updated Punch will compete with the Hyundai Exeter in the Indian market.
