Vijayawada: Former PDF MLC KS Lakshmana Rao said that parents should act in accordance with the interests, curiosity, and thinking of their children. He criticised private and corporate educational institutions for emphasising only marks, grades, and ranks without giving importance to the overall development of the children.Participating as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of Amaravati Balotsavam 2025 in Vijayawada on Thursday, Lakshmana Rao said Amaravati Balotsavam was making remarkable efforts to foster children’s psychological growth. He noted that the festival was conducted continuously for the past eight years. Taking inspiration from Amaravati Balotsavam, similar events are now being held at 40 locations across the state, he added. On the occasion, he further said that Balotsavams would soon be held in Tenali and Pedapadu.Congratulating the organisers, he said that what began with 3,000 participants has now grown into a festival with 16,000 students taking part.Kothagudem Balotsavam founder Dr Vasireddy Ramesh Babu said that Balotsavam helps in the mental development of students and enhances their creativity.Balotsavam General Secretary R Kondala Rao said this year’s festival was conducted in a much more distinctive manner compared to the previous seven years. He said that a record 16,500 students participated in various categories and displayed their talents. He stated that they aim to expand Balotsavam activities across all 175 assembly constituencies in the state. On the occasion, prizes were presented to the winners.
