BHPian NotanF1driver recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Stuck In Bangalore Due To Indigo Flight Cancellations: Here’s The StoryWanted to narrate what happened with one of my colleagues who had traveled to Bangalore from his home at Kochi for official purposes. I will note down the sequence of events below. 1. His BLR – COK flight was on Wednesday 3 Dec at some 10.30pm (last flight in this sector). He called me up at around 12pm and told me that he’s not able to web check in. I told him that I sense something is not right. He got a message by some 3pm ish that flight is cancelled. 2. He could not cancel his already booked cab in time, resulting in some fee there. Plus the option to select any other flight was disabled, customer service non responsive. 3. Booked a flight for Thu at 6pm separately, after taking cancel option for the other one. He reached airport well ahead to know that the flight was postponed to 11pm. He did check in and at 11, they told it would depart by 12. 4. This drama continued from the staff and senior managers at IndiGo – saying next 2 hours, next 3 hours etc. I texted him at 7am and to my surprise, he was still at BLR. 5. He, along with some other passengers, opted to cancel and go out. Now it gets even worse. His check in bags were not made available. Meanwhile, he had booked a bus from BLR – COK at some 9.30pm on fri. 6. The original flight departed (total chaos at Bangalore airport) at 4pm (not sure of how many passengers were on-board since a lot of them had come out). He was still at the airport waiting for luggage even after his flight landed at Kochi. He was informed that his luggage reached Kochi airport by around 7/8pm. The wait at the airport was just to get back his checked in bag, which IndiGo told till that time that it did not get loaded to the aircraft. 7. Meanwhile, he was too late to catch the bus by then, and he booked an Uber intercity with some co- sufferers. He reached Kochi airport on Sat 7 am by car and picked up his bags. Reached home by 9am on Sat. I don’t know how he survived the ordeal and spending 2.5 days for a 500km travel. BLR-COK has so many flights operated majorly by IndiGo. This is a short sector flight and there are multiple other ways to travel. I can imagine the suffering of passengers travelling longer sectors. I wonder how this chaos could happen? How can so many pilots be unavailable which makes the whole airline struggle? Also, moving forward, any private sector player should not be allowed to have monopoly over such a key sector.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
