VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh has once again reaffirmed its national leadership in energy efficiency by winning the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award for the fourth consecutive year, a rare and extraordinary milestone that reflects the State’s sustained progress in energy conservation and efficiency, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand. Following the announcement of the National Energy Conservation Award to Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Secretary said the achievement positioned the State among the most consistent and forward-looking in the country in promoting energy efficiency across major sectors. Demonstrating strong commitment in the Buildings, Industry, Municipal, Agriculture, DISCOMs and Transport sectors, Andhra Pradesh secured the First Prize in the Group II category at the National Energy Conservation Award–2025. K Vijayanand said the State’s continued excellence is driven by the visionary leadership of chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the strong support of minister for energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar. Andhra Pradesh, he said, stands at the forefront nationally in implementing comprehensive, scalable and impactful energy conservation programmes. The coordinated efforts of all govt departments, consumers and stakeholders played a key role in securing the national recognition. He said the four-year consecutive victory underlines the State’s strong institutional framework and sustained commitment to energy efficiency. He congratulated CEO APSECM S Nagalakshmi, the APSECM team and concerned State departments for their dedicated efforts that contributed significantly to the achievement. The Chief Secretary said the President of India Droupadi Murmu will present the National Energy Conservation Award–2025 on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day on December 14, 2025, to the State Designated Agency, AP State Energy Conservation Mission, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. He said the State govt nominated L Sivashankar, CMD APSPDCL, to receive the award on behalf of APSECM. He noted that the govt has actively engaged all departments by establishing Energy Conservation Cells with nodal officers across sectors. Key initiatives include the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024–29), sector-specific policies for MSMEs, Electronics and Food Processing, along with targeted programmes in the Domestic, Industrial, Agricultural and Building sectors. On the occasion, CEO APSECM S Nagalakshmi expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Minister for Energy and Chief Secretary, and said APSECM would further expand outreach by involving departments, students, industries and other stakeholders to harness the State’s full energy-saving potential. She said the Bureau of Energy Efficiency groups States based on Total Final Energy Consumption and Andhra Pradesh, placed in Group II, emerged as the top performer with 89.25 points in SEEI–2025, marking a 2.3 percent improvement over its SEEI–2024 score of 87.25. The CEO said significant progress was made in enforcing the Energy Conservation Building Code, implementing energy efficiency projects in schools, hospitals and ITI colleges, introducing advanced technologies in MSMEs, formulating the Energy Conservation Policy and finalising the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan. Budgetary support, farmer awareness campaigns and energy efficiency demonstration projects in municipal pumping systems also played a crucial role in improving the SEEI score. She thanked the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and the govt of India for support and collaboration, and acknowledged the contributions of departments including Industries, DISCOMs, Transport, Housing, Roads and Buildings for their cooperation and timely data support in achieving the national award.
