BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch has confirmed that the 450cc twin-cylinder platform will replace the entire G310 family. “We’re not ready to disclose specifics, but the 450 is the successor to the 310,” Flasch said. “Looking at the existing 310 lineup, you can more or less guess what we will bring out in the future on the 450 platform.” The recently launched F 450 GS is the first among a range of twin-cylinder motorcycles planned. It replaces the G 310 GS as the new entry-level adventure bike in BMW’s lineup. Next up, the entry-level naked G 310 R will be replaced with a 450cc twin-cylinder version. Similarly, the replacement for the G 310 RR could rival the likes of the Aprilia RS457 and Honda CBR500R. On the F 450 GS, the new 450cc twin-cylinder engine makes 47.5 BHP @ 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm @ 6,750 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. BMW Motorrad is expected to launch the F 450 GS in India next month. The ADV is already in production at TVS’ Hosur plant. Source:MCN
