Did a headlight upgrade on my Suzuki Kizashi: First impressions BHPian KizUday recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Hi guys this is my first post on the forum so forgive me if I made some mistakes. Kizashi 2012 Project Low +H7 , Reflector High H7. My experience with Osram H7 50w LEDs 4200k. Bought them through Planet Car Care, received them without issue. Both bulbs were working perfectly. Since there is no data or spec sheet online i decided to measure the power consumption of the bulbs to check their stable power usage as most bulbs advertise their startup power usage and stable power usage is lower. First time I tested the bulbs I had connected them to my genset battery which was ~12 V and the bulb used around 2.3 A (~27w) which was much lower than advertised and again this was startup usage. I was confused as Osram is a very reputed brand. Second time I tested the bulbs on the genset battery again, but had it was running which made the input voltage at ~13.6v and the bulbs power usage shot up to around ~3.3 A (~42w) which is much closer to the stated power consumption. This made me confident that they were just as advertised 50 watts. Third time I tested the bulbs was after they had been installed and used for a few days of night driving. Did this test with my car before a drive to measure good startup and stable power usage . With car running input voltage at ~14.4v the bulbs used 3.7 A ( ~53W) which is near perfect to the advertised power consumption .To ensure a good stable voltage, I left the car running for at least 10 minutes with headlights on then very quickly connected the multimeter ( it has a time limit to measure power consumption) so I couldn’t measure power usage for whole 10 minutes the bulb turned off for maybe 1-2 second when I was connecting my multimeter. The power consumption was 2.8 A (~41w) which is a very good stable power consumption showing that the bulbs are very good quality in terms of cooling and LED chips. Talking about throw and cutoff, the cutoff is very good, very near to the stock lights but as these are much brighter there is more scattering but still very good cutoff. Also throw is very good now, my low beams illuminate the road as much as high beams upto atleast 50 meters. Now about overall build quality, I would say it’s pretty good but the driver seems to have very minute gaps at the joints which make me worry if they were in my fogs. Hopefully someone has tested them in their fogs in the Indian monsoons where for sedans like mine, the fogs get submerged sometimes. I plan to upgrade my high beams also next week will post before and after photos of that also next week. However, I forgot to get before and after photos of low beams, only have after and of the cutoff. For both photo, I have reduced brightness and messed with camera settings a little to show throw, cut-off and color. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
