Tirupati: On Nov 10, former TTD assistant vigilance and security officer Y Satish Kumar, who was the first complainant in the infamous TTD Parakamani theft case, was found dead under suspicious circumstances near the railway tracks close to Tadipatri in Anantapur district. It was later registered as a murder case after postmortem reports confirmed that he was dealt a fatal blow on his head and his body may have been thrown out of the train. Though over a month has gone by since then, the investigation appears to be at a standstill. The Parakamani case case came to light when then Pedda Jeeyar Mutt head clerk CV Ravi Kumar was caught while trying to steal $900 (72,000) during the counting of Hundi offerings on April 29, 2023. Satish Kumar was attached with TTD vigilance and security dept at the time, and it was based on his complaint that Tirumala police registered a case against Ravi Kumar on April 30. When the case was disposed of on Sep 9, 2023, in the Tirupati Lok Adalat court, it was again Satish Kumar who effected the ‘compromise’ settlement after Ravi Kumar and his family donated seven properties to TTD between May and June 2023.The case resurfaced when a Tirupati-based journalist, Macherla Srinivas, filed a writ petition in the Andhra Pradesh high court, which directed the CID to reinvestigate the Parakamani case and the ACB to inquire into the properties amassed by the accused. Satish Kumar, who was working as a circle inspector at Guntakal GRP, was supposed to be examined by the CID for a second time on Nov 10. His body was found the same morning. Police teams led by Anantapur SP P Jagadeesh inspected the crime scene and found injury marks on the body. His mobile phone was found nearby and sent to the FSL lab at Vijayawada for analysis. While the district police wing formed 12 special teams to probe the case from all angles, there has been no update in the case so far. On the other hand, after the CID and the ACB submitted their findings in the Parakamani case in sealed covers to the high court on Dec 2, the court, in a order passed on Dec 10, directed the CID and the ACB to submit Satish Kumar’s postmortem report to the court, besides asking the investigating agencies to carry on with their investigation and to also share their findings with the enforcement directorate and the income tax department.
