Hyderabad: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence that Telangana’s political landscape is poised for change and said the people would once again extend their support to the BRS if the party continues to stay closely connected with them. He said parties that stand firmly with the people and fight for their causes inevitably receive public support. Earlier, he called on BRS working president KT Rama Rao, former ministers Harish Rao and T Srinivas Yadav at KTR’s residence in Nandinagar on Friday.Later, addressing the media jointly, the SP chief said that winning and losing elections are natural in politics and often give people an opportunity to reassess a party’s performance and policies. Citing the SP’s journey in Uttar Pradesh, he said: “In the past, we too won very few seats. But the people continued to stand with us. With their support, we have now pushed the BJP to second position in UP and emerged strong in the Lok Sabha with 37 MPs. No one can predict when or whom the people will support. If a party stays connected with the people, they will certainly give it another opportunity. We expect a similar shift in Telangana as well.”Akhilesh Yadav said divisive politics have gained ground in the country and stressed the need to move away from it. He called for progressive politics rooted in development and positivity, free from negativity, and affirmed that the SP is moving forward with that vision.Earlier, KTR and other leaders extended a warm welcome to the SP president. KTR said Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership, despite the party losing power in the UP assembly elections, ensured a remarkable performance in the Lok Sabha polls, making SP the third-largest party in India. He said this journey is an inspiration for the BRS. Expressing confidence that the BRS would similarly “bounce back” and return to power in Telangana, KTR added that party leaders discussed various issues with Akhilesh Yadav and noted that the SP chief would meet K Chandrashekar Rao again during his next visit to Hyderabad.
