Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha is going to participate in the “GOAT India Tour” event of the football superhero Lionel Messi at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on December 13.

Rahul will see a match between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s and Messi’s squads. The Chief Minister invited Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi to the event during his visit to Delhi on Thursday.

The fans are in thousands and are eager to see Messi on the ground, meanwhile, the hour-long event on Saturday night will be under severe security precautions. The event which is expected to have around 39,000 attendees will be very smoothly operated with the very big preparation done by the authorities. Several crowd control measures have been announced by the police. Only those with tickets will be permitted entry into the stadium according to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu.

The security measures will include the deployment of 2,500 police officers. Roads around the stadium which is situated in the crowded Uppal area have also been subject to traffic curbs.

Messi who is due to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 4 p.m., will drive to the Taj Falaknuma Hotel for a program before heading to the stadium. He will return to the hotel after the match for the night.

Over the past few days, CM Revanth Reddy who will captain RR9 against Messi10 has been working out with football players at different city grounds. The Chief Minister is wearing jersey number 9 while Messi is wearing his famous number 10. The game is a part of Messi’s “GOAT Tour 2025.”

Thousands of football fans are anticipated, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who advised them to arrive early and take their seats to ensure convenience and security. Messi, Rahul Gandhi, CM Revanth Reddy, ministers and other VIPs have all been assigned special routes for their arrival and departure.

The emphasis he continued, is on smooth coordination, public safety and developing a lively sporting environment that reflects Telangana’s increasing excitement for big athletic events.

CM Revanth Reddy intends to use Messi as a global brand ambassador for the state government’s “Telangana Rising” initiative which aims to highlight the state’s vibrancy in sports, tourism, investment promotion and youth outreach.
