3 Roses Season 2 Review

This review is based only on the first 4 episodes. The remaining episodes will be added later, and the review will be updated accordingly. The first volume of 3 Roses Season 2 is now available for streaming on Aha.

After five long years, the creators of 3 Roses are finally back with season two and it has a hauntingly familiar feel to it – you can’t help but think they needed every single one of those five years to figure out their next move. The new season whips up a change of scenery, swapping Hyderabad for Mumbai, and lands two fresh faces in the mix. The plan is to push the comedy-drama formula a bit further, will they succeed ? Partially, yes – and partially , no.

What Works: Leads and Camaraderie

Let’s start with what actually works here. Eesha Rebba’s return as Rithu is pure comfort food – she carries the entire show on her shoulders with a certain ease that instantly has you rooting for her character and wanting more. And she’s got some great company in the form of Rashi Singh and Kushitha Kallapu – their chemistry has its moments where it reaches genuine warmth and actual laughs. When the show chooses to focus on the friendship between these three women you can genuinely feel the camaraderie they share, which makes their struggles feel a notch more believable.

The basic premise isn’t terrible either . Three women starting their own ad agency in Mumbai ? That’s the kind of storyline that’s definitely relatable enough for the OTT crowd that has a taste for workplace drama. We’ve also got Prasad (Harsha Chemudu) as our familiar face from season one who tries to land a jewellery project with them and the extra tension he brings is undeniably real. Yes , there are moments of dark humour that crackle and land properly, and some conversations that : honestly, ring eerily true to how modern women genuinely talk about their lives, careers and relationships.

What Doesn’t Work: Pacing and Consistency

But then you get the part where the show really trips up: it gets stuck in the worst possible kind of pacing problem. You’ll find yourself plodding through stretches of dialogue that see you checking the clock – you’re just waiting for the story to actually move on. And between some scenes there’s just an eery feeling of wasted time, and there’s a constant wish for the minutes to just fly by already. There’s a particular kind of pacing problem that makes you seriously question the editing choices. When you’re binge watching four episodes back to back, the dip in momentum is honestly noticeable.

And don’t even get started on how the secondary characters get completely underutilized. Satya brings some actual comic relief and Harsha Chemudu has some shining moments, but -they get shut out so hard that the wasted potential is almost palpable. It feels like there’s so much more to these characters than what we got in the end, but unfortunately, the show didn’t bother to give them much of a chance to breathe or develop properly.

But honestly, what really stands out as a problem is the tonal inconsistency. The show is still trying to figure out whether it’s a serious drama about women in their everyday struggles with relationships and careers or a light hearted comedy series. And the wobbling between the two tones – the show can’t decide what kind of show it wants to be – really, really starts to wear thin. One minute you’re supposed to be deeply invested in some relationship drama, the next you’re expected to laugh at some pratfall. The whiplash gets old after a while.

Technical Aspects

And the tech stuff ? Just adequate and forgettable. The music is doing its job but nothing stands out to make it memorable, the production values are good enough that you don’t feel like you’re watching some shoestring budget effort, but beyond that, there’s nothing particularly unique or memorable to it. It’s all just a bit… there.

Then theres the real question – What is Season 2 actually trying to say ? Season one worked because it hooked viewers with a specific take on how three very different women handle life choices. But season two is less clear about what it getting at. The Mumbai setting and story based around an ad agency feel more like slapped on band aids then anything that genuinely explores new ideas. It has a feeling of the people in charge wanting to keep the original cast just because it was already a hit rather than because they had some new ideas to shake things up.

The first volume comes in at 4 episodes and to be honest that’s enough to give you a feel for whether this show is worth your time or not. If you stuck with season one despite its problems, then there should be enough here to keep you invested. The core charm of these 3 women, the ones at the heart of the show, still has a bit of magic left to it and the performances are genuine enough that viewers will keep coming back. But if you’re on the hunt for something that has finally found its voice and is pushing its creativity, then it’s safe to say satisfaction may be lacking.

The show feels like it played it safe rather than doing something bold. It’s stuck with the same formula that worked the first time and tried to remake it with minimal risk. There are laughs to be found, there are moments that tug at the heartstrings, and the women at the centre are likable enough that you really do want to see them come out on top. But for every bit that hits the mark theres another that falls flat or goes on a bit too long.

Final Verdict

If you dont have sky high expectations and you’ve got 2 hours, then 3 Roses Season 2 has enough merriment to pass the time. It’s not bad enough to get up and walk away from, but it’s just not good enough to really get you on the edge of your seat either.
