BHPian krishnaprasadgg recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Ride Down To Cochin After A Long TimeIt had been quite a while since I had ridden down to Cochin, I think maybe even 2 years, so Xaos636 and I had made a small plan to ride down to Cochin. One of the many fuel stops during the trip We started pretty early from Bangalore. The ride went pretty smoothly and uneventfully. By late afternoon, we reached Cochin. Stop at the awesome Kuthiran Tunnel, enjoyed some inline 4 and crossplane music within the tunnel stretch after many years. Tunnel runs are always special. Mid-day cool off stop at Tonico Cafe Now, no visit to Cochin is complete without a visit to Sanju to Fmotors, and we had specifically planned for this. I decided to do an oil change and regular service while Xaos636 had some work lined up on his 10R. Trip meter on Day 1 And as our usual routine went, all 3 of us got pretty deep into the DIY stuff we always do. Now, since the work done has been documented many times on this thread before, not getting too deep into it again. Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a Brembo stylema caliper fitted onto the Ninja 300. This is Sanju’s personal bike. It has a host of upgrades on it can pretty safely say it’s a one-of-a-kind type build. Yamaha R1 ServiceSo let’s get into it. R1 get’s into service mode Oil gets dropped, still looks pretty fresh Oil Filter is coming off This time decided to try out the Idemitsu IRG 7 10W40. It has run a fair bit by now, and safe to say I HATE IT! Never felt any oil perform this poorly on the R1. Safe to say I won’t be going back to Idemitsu ever again. As for the Oil filter stuck with the HiFlow 204RC as usual. 0 issues with Hiflo so far. Golden color fluid for a change. Which did not stay golden for long, though, more on this later. The Air filter was pretty dirty, as expected. Used the Maxima Fab1 air filter recharge spray for recharging the air filter. Next, decided to clean out and lube the clutch cable. Sanju has a tool handy specifically for this. You can see the lube dripping at the other end of the clutch cable. (Also, note how the oil color has changed from gold to light red(Motul 7100). This goes to show, even with a proper drain procedure, how much residual oil stays in the engine oil jackets and galleries.) Look at the dirt that dripped out from the cable end. Post the service and a day chilling out at Cochin, we rode back to Bangalore. Again, a pretty uneventful ride. Oh yeah, we hit 58,000 on the ODO during the return trip, but totally missed clicking it, and ended up noticing only once I reached back home in Bangalore Trip meter reading after the trip up and down As seen on the customary ODO click post the ride.
