Dulquer Salmaan’s period drama Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Swaraj, turned out to be a massive flop in theatres. While Tamil critics hailed it as a solid film, Telugu critics found it boring. Even at the Kollywood box office, Kaantha failed to leave an impact.
However, the reception on OTT has been quite good. The film recently started streaming on Netflix in multiple languages, and according to the latest update, it garnered 1.1 million views in its opening weekend, which is impressive. It became the 17th Kollywood film to cross 1 million views in the first weekend on OTT.
Bhagyashree Bose played the female lead, while Samuthirakani and Rana Daggubati appeared in vital roles. Produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese under Spirit Media Pvt. Ltd. and Wayfarer Films Pvt. Ltd., Kaantha features music composed by Jhanu Chanthar.
