Hyderabad: An Intermediate first year student allegedly died by suicide at his hostel room at Sai Nagar in Kukatpally on Tuesday night. Though his family members raised suspicion of ragging, local police have denied it.KPHB police said that 16-year-old Saikethan was studying Intermediate MPC first year at a private college and was a boarding student. On Tuesday night, the teenager took the extreme step in his room when he was alone. Later, when his friend saw it, he alerted the college authorities, who rushed the boy to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.After police were informed about the incident, they reached the spot and spoke to the students and the hostel staff. “We are yet to ascertain the cause of death. The student did not leave any suicide note. He took the extreme step around 7:30pm,” KPHB police told TOI.His family members alleged that there was a delay on the part of the college management in informing them about the suicide. Saikethan’s family hails from Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. His father is a govt employee. “Saikethan was not a timid person to die by suicide. We are getting information that there is an angle of ragging. We were informed by college management that only juniors would be there. But later, senior Intermediate students were also included in the same hostel campus,” the student’s family members told the media.
