Sold my X3 m40i after 80,000 km: Summing up my experience with the SUV

Sold my X3 m40i after 80,000 km: Summing up my experience with the SUV BHPian mobike008 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: BMW X3M40i- 50,000 Miles (80,000 kms)- NOW SOLD !!! I never thought that this day will ever come as I was in such a blissful state of owning this beast of a car that I never wanted to let go of this thrilling and amazing car which undoubtedly was the best car (now the second best) I ever owned in my life. It just feels like yesterday when on a cold snowy afternoon picked up this shiny beautiful BMW from Baltimore, Maryland and drove 550 miles through heavy snow back to Detroit, Michigan. It was the most memorable and thrilling rides of my life as every mile my hands were shaking with excitement and happiness that I was driving such a great BMW. I have taken this car into mountains, highways, backroads, dirt roads and have driven it in snow blizzards, incessant rains etc.. and not once did it fail on me. Some of the most memorable drives that come to top of my mind. 1. Baltimore, Maryland to Detroit Michigan 2. Detroit to Boston 3. Detroit to Smoky Mountains in Tennessee (Twice) 4. Covered every inch of Michigan 5. Detroit to Chicago (Multiple Drives) 6. Seattle to Vancouver, Canada (Multiple Drives) 7. Seattle to Portland (Multiple Drives) 8. Seattle to Banff and Jasper National Park, Canada ( 2000 miles. drive) 9. Team BHP Meet in the famous Ohio 555 which is car enthusiasts dream location to drive in Ohio ( 750 miles round trip) 10. Finally, the mother of all drives when back in 2022 December, we drove from Seattle to Tijuana, Mexico and back via. Pacific Coast and Oregon Coast covering 3,500 miles in one trip. I never got around to sharing a travelogue of this epic Pacific Coast Drive. Hopefully, one day !! Undoubtedly, It was the most pleasurable ownership ever of my life where I spent literally nothing on this car (Except for 2 regular services, 1 time rear brake pad changes and 4 tires were replaced at 33,000 miles) and all of which costed less than $3000. Imagine clocking 50,000 miles/80,000kms and spending just $3,000 ( First 3-years spent $0) and this is what true car ownership dreams are made of. I faced stiff resistance from my wife not only for getting my new beast in the garage : https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-…ml#post6037295 But, also for deciding to sell this car as she absolutely fell in love with it and even offered me money to buy it off me. Talk about money moving in the same household…lol! For nearly 3 months, I tried using it as much as possible even though I WFH predominantly (wifey prefers taking the BMW to work instead of the Mercedes) but, keeping 3-cars was an overkill (especially the insurance costs which as you may know is exorbitant in the US as I had to pay nearly $4500 for 1 year for 3- expensive cars in the garage) Finally, last week, we bid adieu to our beloved Blau Rakete which was heartbreaking not just for me but, also for my better half. I convinced her that we will go back to an X3M40i after the “M” addiction is over which I doubt. But, after driving an M, it is really hard to go back to the B58 so probably will settle for an X3M in future as I absolutely love the X3 platform as its the perfect size to have fun and not compromise on the comfort and practicality. To wrap up this memoir, I’m glad to announce that I made decent money on this car as the resale value of X3 as a platform and B58 is really good, so it aleast took some bite off the miserable feeling of selling this spectacular car. P.S : Bidding it good-bye with lots of love for not only providing the best thrills of ny life but, also for keeping us safe with some pictures (in no particular order) and I will never forget this ownership as it was one of the most thrilling period of my car ownerships.
