Triumph Tracker 400 launched in UK

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its 400cc line-up in the UK with the launch of the new Tracker 400. It is a retro-style roadster inspired by classic flat-track motorcycles. Although it is based on the Speed 400 platform, the Tracker 400 shares the sporty engine tune of the Thruxton 400, making it a more attractive and performance-oriented option in Triumph’s small-capacity range.

Visually, the Tracker 400 gets a clean, minimalist design that is in line with the flat-track aesthetics. Key features include a flat and long seat, a slim fuel tank with prominent knee room, and a short, thick tail section that gives the motorcycle a purposeful look. Details like round LED headlamps, tracker-style side panels, seat cowl, and low bodywork further reinforce its retro look.

Most of the parts of the cycle have been taken from the Speed 400. The Tracker 400 has a hybrid perimeter steel frame, with suspension provided by upside-down front forks and a gas-charged rear monoshock. Braking is done by disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with road-focused, knobby-style tires that complete its tracker-inspired look. In terms of features, the Tracker 400 is quite well equipped, with full-LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, traction control and dual-channel ABS as standard.

At its center is the familiar 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, shared with the Speed 400 but tuned to Thruxton 400 specifications. In this form, it makes around 41.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm, giving a powerful mid-range punch. This motor comes with a six-speed gearbox and slip-and-assist clutch.

Despite being made in India, the chances of the Triumph Tracker 400 being launched in India are slim at the moment, mainly due to the recent GST linked price hike. However, according to reports, Bajaj is working on a new 350cc engine as per the revised GST rules, so a 350cc engine version of this bike can be considered for launch in India.
