Got my new Casio G-Shock watch: Loving the functionality & ease of use

Got my new Casio G-Shock watch: Loving the functionality & ease of use BHPian SaurAswale recently shared this with other enthusiasts First off, thanks for the recommendation! I totally agree that the Tough Solar series is the way to go if you never want to worry about battery changes. But since I was looking for something with smartphone connectivity and basic step tracking, the models that had both features along with the classic G-Shock square dial were way out of my budget. Actually more expensive than some of the latest Apple, Samsung, or Garmin watches. So I decided to live with battery replacements every couple of years. I received the watch yesterday, checked the serial numbers and everything physically, and it looks genuine. I also registered for the 2-year (+6 months) warranty on Casio’s website. About the watch, it looks amazing! The MIP negative display is super crisp and easy to read in all conditions and angles. I recently learned the word “legible,” and that’s exactly what it is. The auto light works perfectly every time I flip my wrist, so it’s great at night too. There is a dedicated button at bottom for the lights. But the light itself is underwhelming and just does the job. The size is just right for my wrist, and it’s so light that after a couple of hours I completely forgot I was wearing it, till I removed it when I went to sleep. And that’s the most important thing I considered while purchasing it. Being comfy, light and not required to remove frequently after use. Smartphone connectivity has been seamless. It comes with Casio Move app and app is easy to use. One can change everything through the app instead of keep pressing buttons on the watch. It beeps when any button is pushed and if you need to search through menus, you do need to press a lot of buttons. So, I turned the beeping off. Buttons are very easy to press and operate even with riding gloves on. Register the push every time. Despite this, responsiveness is not a strong point if you are used to smartwatches. The watch takes it’s time to come back to home screen after exiting stopwatch Might be a result of very power efficient and hence weaker processor. It beeps every time I get a notification or a call, and honestly, after using it for a day, I realized how many notifications I get and how distracting and irritating they are!!! Most were just promotions from apps like Swiggy, Flipkart, Zepto, Redbus, and so on. I’ve already disabled all of them. The watch also lets me read Teams messages, WhatsApp, and SMS, which I find super convenient when mobile is away (Which usually is common if I am using the 5G hotspot for work). I Still need to check out the step tracking in detail and see how accurate it is. The app shows the map where I walked and a lot of details like calories, avg pace, max pace, spm, distance, elevation etc. But I have to hit ‘RUN’ and ‘START’ button to start recording. I guess mobile should be with me if I wish to record the GPS related data. Didn’t expected it to be this detailed, it is an addition. Overall, I’m really happy with the purchase. Crisp MIP display With 2nd timezone which can be changed to any location through the app. Can be toggled between normal time display (pic.1) or with 2nd timezone (Pic.2) or with activity information (No. of steps, kms and data for past 6 days or months): Notification Menu: Activity summary: Extra ‘support’ to wrist, supposed to make it more comfortable. But I havn’t used any watch without it so won’t comment on its effectiveness. Activity Summary from the app Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
