Janhvi Kapoor’s film “Homebound” has inched closer to the Oscars race after making it to the list of 15 eligible films for the Best International Feature Film category. The Academy has now narrowed this pool down as part of the initial selection process, marking an early but significant milestone for the Indian entry.
For “Homebound” to ultimately win an Oscar, it still has a long way to go. The film must make it to the Academy’s final five nominees, and eventually emerge as the winner, making this just the first of several crucial steps.
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, “Homebound” revolves around two friends, played by Ishan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, and addresses the theme of caste discrimination. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead in the film.
If the film advances to the nomination stage, it would be a major achievement for the team and could also see Janhvi Kapoor actively participating in extensive Oscar-related promotions in the coming months.
