Police have initiated legal proceedings against the management of Lulu Mall and the event organisers after actor Nidhhi Agerwal was mobbed by a crowd during a promotional event in Hyderabad on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The incident occurred in Kukatpally, drawing attention to crowd control and security measures at public gatherings of this scale.
The event, held at the mall, attracted a large number of fans eager to see the actor during the launch of a song from her upcoming film The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas. Video clips shared on social media showed Nidhhi struggling to move through a dense crowd that pressed in from all sides, making it difficult for her to reach her vehicle.
The situation quickly turned chaotic as the enthusiastic crowd repeatedly invaded the actor’s personal space. Many people were seen attempting to take photographs and interact with her, raising concerns over her safety and the effectiveness of the security arrangements at the event.
KPHB Inspector S Rajashekar Reddy stated that the organisers had not secured the necessary permission for the public event at the mall.
The police have now registered a suo motu case, meaning action was taken independently without the need for a formal complaint. Officials said this decision was made after reviewing the incident and observing the lack of crowd management, which could have put attendees at risk.
Investigators are probing possible security lapses and assessing whether stronger measures could have prevented the escalation. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing police enquiry as officials look into how the event unfolded, and the roles played by those responsible for organising it.
