Hyderabad recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the lowest under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the city and surrounding areas will continue to experience foggy conditions during morning hours for the next 24 hours.
The IMD’s bulletin further forecasts that minimum temperatures are likely to be below 3-4 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
Cold wave alert issued for 11 Telangana districts
The IMD has also issued a cold wave alert for 11 districts in Telangana on Sunday, December 21.
These include Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.
The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) reported that between December 19 and December 20, 29 districts recorded minimum temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius or below.
Telangana regions experience sub-10°C temperatures
The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 4.5 degrees Celsius in Kohir (Sangareddy).
Other areas that recorded sub-10°C temperatures include Uppal (7.5°C), Sirpur (4.8°C), and Moinabad (5.1°C).
The remaining districts saw temperatures between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius during this period.
GHMC’s lowest reading was recorded at the University of Hyderabad.
