The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert in 11 Telangana districts for Sunday.

According to IMD’s latest bulletin, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see mainly clear sky. “Fog and misty conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning or night hours. Minimum temperatures are likely to be below 3°C to 4°C during the next two days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C and 11°C respectively,” the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), between December 19 and 20, 29 districts recorded minimum temperatures of 10°C or below. The lowest minimum temperature was 4.5°C in Kohir (Sangareddy) while University of Hyderabad recorded 6.3°C (lowest minimum temperature), under GHMC limits. This was followed by 7.5°C in Uppal and 10°C in Marredpally.

Sirpur in Kumram Bheem Asifabad recorded 4.8°C followed by 5.1°C in Moinabad (Rangareddy), 5.8°C in Mominpet (Vikarabad), 5.9°C in Bheempur (Adilabad), 7.2°C in Yeldurthy (Medak), 7.4°C in Gandhari (Kamareddy), 7.5°C in Markook (Siddipet), 8°C in Midjil. (Mahabubnagar) and Kuntala (Nirmal), 8.2°C in Bodhan (Nizamabad), 8.3°C in Kothapalle (Narayanpet), 8.4°C in Tekumatla Jayashankar Bhupalpally), 8.5°C in Govindaraopet (Mulugu) and Kalwakurthy (Nagarkurnool), 8.6°C in Ramagiri (Peddapalli) and Kotapally (Mancherial), 8.8°C. in Rudrangi (Rajanna Sircilla) and 8.9°C in Dharmapuri (Jagtial).

The remaining districts recorded temperatures ranging between 9°C and 12°C.
