According to KTM, quality checks have found that the side stand spring may break in some cases due to engine vibration. This problem is limited to motorcycles with forged side stands and does not affect other types of side stands. KTM says that only a few cases have been reported so far and the company is taking precautionary measures to eliminate potential safety risks.

Under the recall, owners of the affected motorcycles are requested to visit an authorized service center for replacement of the side stand spring and installation of rubber protective parts. To help riders get to the dealership safely before repairs can be made, KTM also recommends temporarily securing the side stand with a rubber band or similar device.

Additionally, a side stand sensor retaining plate will be installed on some motorcycles during service. The purpose of this update is to set the trigger range of the side stand switch, and authorized KTM dealers will inform customers if their motorcycle requires this additional procedure.

Owners of the affected motorcycles will be informed directly by KTM and are advised to contact their nearest authorized dealership. All repairs related to the recall will be done free of charge through KTM’s authorized network.
