South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Monday (December 22, 2025) stressed the need for winter preparednessdirecting officials to ensure clear signal visibility by removing bushes along tracks and carrying out regular inspections of all critical locations, including bridges, level crossings and station approach points.

Addressing the weekly safety meeting at Rail Nilayam, he asked officers to draw up meticulous plans for the timely Periodical Overhauling (POH) and Routine Overhauling (ROH) of rolling stock such as coaches and wagons to ensure operational safety and improve punctuality.

He also examined the safety action plans pertaining to different departments including mechanical, engineering, electrical and signal & telecommunications and reviewed the availability of safety equipment such as GPS trackers for keymen and patrolling staff, walky-talkies and fog devices etc. on trains.

Alertness at level crossings and safety training/counselling to the private siding safety staff, grievances of safety staff viz., working hours, proper lighting on the pathways and yards and carrying of detonators by the keymen/patrolling staff were also reviewed.

Earlier, the GM inaugurated exhibition stalls in the Rail Nilayam lawns displaying various aspects Energy conservation. About six stalls were set up by Hyderabad Division, Secunderabad divisions, electric loco shed/Lalaguda, Energy Efficient Services Limited (EESL), Havells, and Pom Power, e-Mug, C&S Switch Gears.

These stalls showcased equipment like occupancy sensors, LED Lights, solar street lights, automatic power factor correction panels, solar bifacial panels, electric vehicle charging equipment, various type of switch gears, etc. EESL exhibited electric vehicles, including bicycles, scooters, and four- wheelers, highlighting the importance of sustainable and energy-efficient transportation, said a press release.
