Chilly weather to persist in Hyderabad on Christmas eve and the next day


Hyderabad and surrounding districts continued to reel under cold wave conditions, with night temperatures dipping 3–4 degrees Celsius below normal. While daytime temperatures remain pleasant, IMD has warned of chilly nights through Christmas across parts of Telangana.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and districts continue to experience cold wave conditions with minimum temperatures below normal by 3 degree Celsius and 4 degree Celsius at many locations.

While day time temperatures on Wednesday are expected to climb up to 28 degree Celsius, temperatures during Christmas eve on Wednesday night and early hours of Christmas on Thursday morning are expected to be chilly.


Between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the minimum temperature at certain places in Hyderabad and its surroundings hovered between 8.4 degree Celsius and 10 degree Celsius.

Patancheru region recorded a minimum of 8 degree Celsius while Rajendranagar and Hayathnagar recorded 9 and 11 degree Celsius respectively, the IMD-Hyderabad weather data indicated.

The minimum temperatures in core areas of Hyderabad, however, like Begumpet etc ranged between 13 degree Celsius and 14 degree Celsius.

In its Wednesday morning forecast, the IMD-Hyderabad said “Minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 3 degree Celsius and and 4 degree Celsius, at isolated pockets during next 2 days over Telangana”.

The minimum temperatures in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts including Medchal-Malkajgiri, Bhongir, Medak and Rangareddy will hover between 11 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius in the coming 48-hours, the IMD-Hyderabad forecast indicated.
