EAGLE Force intensifies efforts for drug-free New Year celebrations in Telangana

The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force launched an intensified, State-wide crackdown to ensure drug-free New Year celebrations in Telangana, deploying special teams across urban and rural areas as part of the government’s “Nasha Mukt Telangana” policy.

In coordination with the Telangana police, particularly across the tri-commissionerates, the force has stepped up surveillance and enforcement to prevent the sale, distribution and consumption of narcotic and psychotropic substances during the festive period. Focused checks are being carried out at party venues, hotels, pubs, highways, transit points, areas around educational institutions and other locations identified as drug-prone, with narcotics detection dogs pressed into service at vulnerable points.

The EAGLE Force has also issued a detailed advisory to bar and pub owners, event organisers and party venues, stressing responsible conduct during celebrations. Establishments have been directed to ensure liquor is not served to minors and that they are not permitted in places where alcohol and smoking are allowed. Organisers have been reminded that the use of e-cigarettes is banned in India and must not be permitted on their premises.

Event organisers have further been asked to ensure that DJs, radio jockeys and band performers are not involved in drug abuse or past drug-related offences, and to keep all areas of their premises, including rooms, rest rooms and parking spaces, free from drug use. Compliance with anti-drug laws, display of anti-drug messages and prompt reporting of suspicious activities have also been emphasised.

Appealing to the public, the EAGLE Force urged citizens to actively support the drive by sharing information related to drug trafficking or consumption through the toll-free number 1908, the control room number 8712671111 or via email at tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in. Officials assured that all information would be kept strictly confidential and that credible informants would be suitably rewarded.

Officials warned that strict action will be taken against offenders under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and other applicable laws. The enforcement drive will remain active throughout the New Year period to ensure public safety and protect youth welfare.
