My Yamaha R1 WGP 50th Anv Edition: New tyres, spa day & a leisure ride

My Yamaha R1 WGP 50th Anv Edition: New tyres, spa day & a leisure ride BHPian krishnaprasadgg recently shared this with other enthusiasts: New tyre day! Well, Nothing happened to the Rosso 4, It’s barely run 4k kms to date, but it seemed a bit wasteful to be running relatively more stickier tyres for mostly highway runs and with a few longer highway only rides potentially coming up in the months ahead(fingers crossed) I didn’t want to waste the Rosso 4, I do have plans for more track days coming ahead so running around for a new set of tyres then didn’t seem worthwhile, so I took the decision to get a set of Road 6 which hopefull gives me atleast 10-12k kms of usage out of them(my Road 5 set gave me a little over 12k kms of usage) and the Rosso 4 can carry out track day duty and act as a spare set too in a pinch. Also, Xoas636 was also in need of a set of Road 6 tyres, so we clubbed our purchase together and got a slightly better deal on the tyres. Purchase was done through Torque Block, and fitment was done at Madhus, Wilson Garden. The bikes were all fully cleaned up for the tyre change day, and of course, it had to rain for the 1-2 hours gap in which we had to reach the tyre shop. Ended up reaching quite early, traffic was light that day for some reason Fitment went smoothly with 0 issues; all the right tools, equipment, and procedures were followed, and both front and rear paddocks were used. It was when we showed up for the install that we got to know from Mohsin that they have now resumed the Superbike tyre sales for multiple brands, with very competitive pricing. Had we known this, maybe might have gotten a better deal. Anyway, gave them the feedback to market this new service a bit more so that it can benefit the consumers more. That’s the reason why I decided to type this here too. Anybody who owns a big bike knows the situation we are in whenever a tyre change time comes up, eye-watering prices, and very low options for us consumers to choose from. Hopefully, this will bring in room for more competitive prices for tyres. Anyways, took the bike out for a scrub in run during that weekend, did not really take any photos. It was just another breakfast ride with Xoas636. The only noteworthy thing that happened was that the R1 hit 56k on the ODO during that ride. 56k on the ODO The untimely rain during the whole week meant the bike was absolutely filthy by the time the week was done, so took her in for a good Spa session at my usual spot(The Gloss Factor, HSR). SPA time Now she is ready for the next weekend outing. The next ride, the following weekend, was with @wolfy, who had just purchased a new toy for himself. He was on the last leg of his run in the ride, and I gave him company. Ran into @CrAzY dRiVeR on his N1000 and his friend on his newly acquired GS1300 at E-city before we went about with our ride. All in all it was an awesome ride, rode the 6R for a while too, but went easy as it was still under run-in period. Waiting to get the chance to take it through its pace next time around. Hope you enjoy the pics from the ride. Here is the customary ODO meter pic post the weekend ride. Cheers Krishna Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
