Tata Confirms Sierra EV, Punch EV & Avinya for 2026

Tata Motors has recently achieved a new sales milestone in the electric mobility segment in India. The indigenous automaker has sold over 2.5 lakh EVs so far, with more than 1 lakh units contributed by the Nexon EV alone. Aiming to further strengthen its position in the EV market, Tata Motors plans to significantly expand its product portfolio and charging network in the coming years.

While announcing this EV sales achievement, the company also confirmed its plan to launch three new electric models in 2026 including the Sierra EV, updated Punch EV and Avinya EV. The Sierra EV and Punch EV are scheduled to arrive in the first half 2026, while the premium Avinya range will debut in the second half of the year.

Premium Tata Avinya EVs

The Avinya range will be Tata’s new premium electric product portfolio, based on its Gen-3 born electric architecture. We have seen the Avinya concept at the previous edition of the Bhart Mobility Show, highlight a futuristic design language and a minimalist cabin theme. Key design elements include a uniquely designed grille, a full-width LED light bar, slim headlamps, a slim screen integrated into the dashboard, a new steering wheel with an integrated screen and sustainable materials.

The upcoming Tata Avinya EVs are expected to support advanced technologies such as next-gen ADAS, OTA updates, ultrafast charging capabilities, a battery management system and an integrated propulsion system. The driving range are expected to exceed 500km per charge, with the capability to charge the battery in less than 30 minutes.

Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra EV and the updated Punch EV are scheduled to launch in the first half of 2026. The electric iteration of the Sierra is expected to share its platform and powertrain with the Harrier EV. While the overall design and features are likely to remain largely similar to its ICE counterpart, the EV version might receive a few EV-specific software upgrades and badges.

New Tata Punch EV Facelift

The 2026 Tata Punch EV is likely to receive subtle design changes and feature enhancements, while retaining its existing powertrain options. Rumour has it that the updated model could borrow the 45kWh battery pack with the Nexon EV, which offers a claimed ARAI range of 489km on a full charge.
