BHPian Dippy recently shared this with other enthusiasts: While we all look forward to a new year, we also look back at the year that was. And 2025 has been action-packed for us auto enthusiasts. Personally, it’s been nice as well. This year, I actually started taking my Thar on a few OTRs. Did 3 of them this year. Seeing what my SUV is capable of just makes me love it more. I’m already looking forward to my first long road trip with the Thar in January. I also drove some interesting machines this year in Dubai. The most fun was the Ram Rebel X pickup. I was totally smitten by the size and the way it drove. Fantastic ride quality and comfort for a pickup. Quite a peppy V6 with a throaty exhaust. Outside cars, I also did my bit for the society. Putting a smile on these wonderful children’s faces was truly touching. Will be looking to more in the coming year. Coming back to the Indian car scene, I think the biggest bang of the year was the Tata Sierra launch. It just goes to show what an emotional connection with a nameplate can do. It also became the 2025 Team BHP Car of the Year. I haven’t driven it yet, but I can’t wait to do so. 2025 also saw a couple of launches that tingle the heart of the petrolhead. These would be the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Skoda Octavia VRS. Sure, they are expensive, but nothing makes me happier than seeing these two officially on the road in India. There were also two EVs that stood out for me. The Tata Harrier.ev with All Wheel Drive and the sexy MG Cyberster. It’s nice to see the EV space expanding across segments with each passing year. Another highlight was the new GST reforms coming into effect. Manufacturers slashed prices, resulting in a boost in sales. US President Donald Trump’s tariff attack on the world was a hot topic of debate this year. Nissan finally closed the order books for the R35 GT-R. A sad day for enthusiasts and Godzilla lovers. Formula 1 was also exciting this year. While Lando Norris took his first championship, the highlight of the 2025 season was Max Verstappen’s comeback, finishing just two points behind Lando at the end of the season. These were some of my highlights of 2025. Looking forward to reading BHPians’ thoughts on the Indian car scene and personal highlights from the year. Here’s what GTO replied:2025 was a fabulous year for car enthusiasts & customers, with some truly great product introductions (most recent being the Sierra & Seltos). It’s no market for mediocre cars anymore (unless you are Maruti).Hardcore driving machines like the Octavia RS & Golf GTI were launched in India. The year has seen Mahindra & Tata fighting for the No.2 & No.3 spots, earlier dominated by Hyundai exclusively.Maruti had its first electric vehicle, and we had a new car manufacturer enter India (Vinfast). The number of EV models & choices is growing, growing, growing.Main downer for me was the introduction & enforcement of E20 Petrol.Great year for Team-BHPians too, now that regular contributors are able to participate in one-of-a-kind industry events (we already had a track day with the Octavia RS, a 2-day event with Mahindra in Chennai, a dream day with Mercedes):Here’s what BHPian Skyline_GT replied:2025 has been a pretty eventful year when it came to putting miles on my car and bikes. 1) Bullet 350 – Did multiple solo and group trips on my trusty old steed. Joined a new riding group which came with more rides and hence miles put on the Bullet. Finally got my luggage setup complete as well with the new Rynox Nomad saddle bags. A minor hiccup where I got into a crash on my Bullet but luckily survived with a sore shoulder! The Bullet post crash stayed true to its moniker, Made Like a Gun, with just a broken mirror and bent headlight cowl which were fixed even before my shoulder got fixed! 2) Swift – Plenty of trips within Maharashtra, the car crossed into the 60,000kms on the odo and with the year ending now stands at 65,000 odd kms. 3) Versys 300 – The highlight of this year for me was finally putting down my money and getting the much-needed twin cylinder add-on to my garage with the Versys 300 in August this year. The Versys currently stands at 2200 odd kms with a couple of trips done and more coming soon!Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
