Adi Sai Kumar starrer interesting thriller “Shambala” is one of the latest films that released with good buzz in the theaters this week. And let’s see in the review whether this movie met the expectations or got the hit that Aadi wanted or not.
Story:
It is 1980s, a small town called Shambala is suddenly hit by a huge meteorite. Right after it falls, some unexpected events start happening in that town. One by one they get a lump on the back of their neck and then it disintegrates and they die. But Vikram (Aadi), a government geoscientist and an atheist who comes to investigate what the meteorite is, gets into the middle of the town’s problem. How did the war between science and science run from there? What happened to that town? The science behind that meteorite? Or science? Did the deaths stop in that town or not? Who is Devi (Archana Iyer) who is seen only by Aadi? What did Vikram do? If you want to know, you should watch this movie.
Plus Points:
It must be said that the core point chosen by the director in this film is interesting. It can be said that this is another new attempt in devotional and science mixed subjects coming in recent times. In this, the back story told by Sai Kumar’s voice over is also interesting and seems to have given new information to the audience.
It seems decent to say that the devotional elements and the current Vastu related elements are understood. Also, after some time in the second half, some of the situations are understood by the audience, but there are some devotional moments that are impressive. Along with these, the thrill elements maintained in some scenes are also good.
Among the actors, Adi Sai Kumar gave a good performance. Can give a little more marks for his script selection as main. His look was set correctly for this movie and he gave a good performance in the role of Vikram. Along with him, Archana Iyer also got a good role. She impressed with her presence in the role of Devi. Actor Madhunandan and Harsha Vardhan gave decent performances while Ravi Varma and actor Laxman Meesala surprised with their performances. Apart from them, the other main cast has done well.
Minus Points:
It should be said that the main problem in this movie is a slight flaw in the story. Most of the scenes in the first half and the second half continue to be predictable. So after a moment, the movie doesn’t seem to be going that interesting. The heroine and the deaths in that town seem to be in a very regular format.
It would have been better if the director had planned something new. Apart from that, there should have been some more scenes like the clash between science and science. Also, the AI visual track shown in the movie is not so natural or good. Instead, it would have been better if it had been done in the animation itself.
Technical category:
The production values in this movie are decent. The set up and production design of the movie are good. Sricharan Pakala’s score is good in the movie. The sound design is neat. Camera work by Praveen K Bangari is good. Shravan Katikaneni’s editing is also okay.
When it comes to the director Yugandhar Muni.. his work is good for this movie. The core point he chose as the main one is pleasing in this movie. A few tracks in the story woven accordingly are regular but the rest of the suspense and devotional moments are pleasing. Other than that, his work is good for this movie.
Verdict:
If you look at it as a whole, it can be said that this movie ‘Shambala’ is a decent devotional and science mixed thriller. The core line taken by the director is good in this. Also, some of the scenes that go with it are also good. Otherwise, the track in that town seems to be routine. Other than that, this movie is enjoyable.
