Nandu, Shivaji and Ravi Krishna starrer ‘Dandora’ is one of the latest films released in this Christmas race. The makers of this movie, which was made in the background of caste clashes, got a good buzz with their promotions. Let’s see how this movie is in the review.
Story:
It is 2004 and a farmer Shivaji (Shivaji) from Andhra Pradesh lives with his son and daughter Vishnu (Nandu) and Sujata (Manika). But Ravi (Ravi) of the same village, who belongs to a lower caste, loves Sujata, a girl of a higher caste than him. But this is where the real problems start. What happened because he fell in love with a girl of a higher caste than him? One must watch this movie to know what kind of atrocity Shivaji faced with his own caste friends.
Plus Points:
Until now, there have been many movies from Telugu cinema in the background of caste discrimination, but in this Dandora, a completely new angle is seen. It is remarkable that the director has chosen a new topic that has not been seen before. It is good that it is also shown with interest in this movie. While showing the discrimination and oppression between two different castes, it is pleasing to show another new aspect.
Also, the start with the scene on the upper caste victim keeps the audience engrossed. This is how the story progresses. The film goes from a high tension court drama to another level by continuing a flow like this. Also, the sequence on Nandu and Radhya in the climax portion is good. Also the ending given in the movie is also pleasing.
And the actor should speak first for Shivaji. Recently, he was seen in a similar role in the movie Court, but the role he played in this film is another iconic negative role from him. His mass screen presence as well as dialogue delivery are brilliant. Also actor Ravi Krishna has done well in his role. He also showed his dance angle as a megastar fan.
And Manika also did well. It can be said that Nandu also got a good role in this movie. Along with them, another surprise pack is actor Navdeep, who played the role of Sarpanch of the village. This role feels refreshing from him. The fun angle from him is pleasing in this movie. Also Bindu Madhavi, Muralidhar Goud and others have done justice to their roles.
Minus Points:
The point in this movie is that most of the scenes are decent. But in some places the story should have been planned better. Mainly in the first half, the story seems a bit scattered. Flash back, the scenes showing the present do not feel so clear.
Also some scenes feel stretched. Also in the movie Shivaji and Bindu Madhavi’s track is good in the movie but it would have been better to see a little more clarity in their chemistry in the track. Also, some scenes seem to be left to the imagination of the audience. The director has to take a little care in such things.
Technical category:
The production values in this movie are good. The production design, planned to match the vintage backdrop, is neat. Music by Mark Kay Robin is good. The songs and main background music make an impact in this. The camera work given by Venkat Shakamuri is good. Editing is also okay.
When it comes to the director Murali Kant, the way he has guided the story almost naturally according to the background he has chosen is good in this. Although he has released few films till now, his choice is new in this one. The movie would have been better if a little more care had been taken at some places. However, his work is good in this movie.
Verdict:
If you look at it as a whole, ‘Dandora’ is a new angle unlike the other movies that have come up so far in the background of castes. Moreover, the direction of the director impresses with the solid performances of the actors. Some scenes need to be done better. Apart from these, this honest attempt will please the audience.
