Anasuya Bharadwaj has continued to maintain a firm stand against actor Sivaji’s controversial remarks made during the “Dhandoraa” event. Although Sivaji issued an apology, he went on to defend his comments by claiming that his intentions were genuine, suggesting there was nothing wrong in advising women and actresses to “dress in decent way.”
Recently, during a press meet held to promote Dhandoraa, Sivaji reiterated his position while expressing regret over his choice of words. His remarks, however, drew sharp criticism from feminists, celebrities, and netizens alike, who accused him of victim-shaming. Many pointed out that instead of questioning men who grope or abuse women, his comments placed the onus on women’s clothing.
Anasuya Bharadwaj has been vocal on social media, calling out Sivaji’s statements and offering strong rebuttals to his continued justifications.
Despite facing trolling from a section of online users, the actress has remained unwavering, asserting her right to dress as she chooses.
Responding to the ongoing backlash, Anasuya wrote, “Regardless of everything that is happening and unfolding, I will always stand tall, unbothered, unaffected, untouched, and strong. This entire interaction is solely about representing a section of society that has long been unheard and overlooked. At the end of the day, I will always live up to and say, ‘Aap jalan barkaraar rakhna… hum jalwa barkaraar rakhenge.’”
