BHPian MileCruncher recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I did Mumbai – Candolim – Mumbai travelling recently from 19-22 December on the motorcycle. A trip that was originally meant for IBW persisted despite IBW being shifted to Panchgani. I did both sides via the NH66 fully. Onwards, a relaxed ride with too many breaks and hence took almost 12 hours. Return was a more focused “get back home” ride. Started from Candolim at 6 AM. Reached home in Parel, Mumbai at 2:58 PM.Breaks taken:2 Fuel stops4 breaks for Breakfast, snacks, bio breaks and stretchingKey pointers:NH66 between Goa and Mumbai is 80% doneProblem areas are Lanja – Sangameshwar – 70 Kms stretch. Too many diversions and off-road sections. However, nothing that a good SUV or ADV bike cannot handle. Not advisable for low-slung sedansAnd Mangaon – Dolvi – Too many unfinished flyovers and hence diversionI foresee this highway to be completed in the next 12 months and tolls to start. Work is in full swingNo breakfast point will be open till about 8AM from Goa to Mumbai sideLoads of good / reasonable restaurants / eating options now compared to last yearSep 2024, I rode the same route and it took me 12 Hrs almost. This time it was 9 HrsThis is my stat for Candolim – Panvel. Candolim – Parel The last 46 odd kms through afternoon traffic and a fuel stop affected the timing. Overall, I think this is the go-to route now! Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
